How to make Kodachrome Curtains

January 30th, 2011 | 2 Comments | Posted in Crafts, Photography

Kodachrome Curtains - Copyright Lufah @ craftster.org

Lufah over at craftster.org has come up with a unique way of what to do with all of those old Kodak Kodachrome slides laying around, make curtains out of them! I must say that seeing this has already drummed up a few ideas on how to make my own curtains. I really like how whenever the light comes through that it has a stained glass window effect.

She goes on to say, “It’s a pair of curtains made out of old Kodachrome slides!  I’m really interested in photography, and will buy old cameras in antique and thrift stores in order to develop film that’s inside of it.  From time to time, I’ll find collections of old slides and will buy those, too.  Last fall, driving back from vacation, we stopped at an antique store outside of Kansas City and I found a box of a ton of old slides, mostly Kodachrome, from the 50s and 60s.”

Time to go to the antique store!

You know a funny thing can happen to people that you grew up with especially in school. In life, we usually lose touch and we all wonder what ever happened to them? Did they succeed in what they were best at in school? Did they achieve the things they were after?

Well after 20 years one person who I went to school with turned out to be a truly professional commercial and editorial photographer.

Brent Cline’s photography rolls through the Equestrian life here in Aiken but also my favorite subject which is roadside dilapidated farm homes.

Although his work just doesn’t end there, I am sure you will see the beauty that he sees through the lens.

The Photography of Jordan Matter

Hudson River - Copyright Jordan Matter

One Million, Five Hundred Sixty-Seven Thousand, Eight Hundred Ninety-Two…to One. I’ve been taking photographs for years. But so what? At last count I believe there were 1,567,892 photographers in New York City, and more are squeezing through the cracks every day. So who am I, exactly, and why am I in the mood to go against 1,567,892 to 1 odds? Well, I began my career as a professional actor, so I know about long shots. And photography really happened by chance. Link

Andrew Curtis’ Cinco De Mayo Carnival Time Lapse Photography

Andew Curtis wrote, “Shooting 1 second exposures every 2 seconds with a total of 2683 images in this video, played back at 12fps. Shot on 2 consecutive nights. First night was the panning tripod. While we were shooting, a guy called me back about an ad on craigslist for his Peleng 8mm fisheye. We went and picked it up at midnight and brought it along the 2nd night, when we did all the still shots.Link
