The Art of Sophie Blackall (Missed Connections)

Scrabble Tattoo on Roof - Copyright Sophie Blackhall

Purple Shirt & Blue Dress - Copyright Sohpie Blackall

Sophie says, “Messages in bottles, smoke signals, letters written in the sand; the modern equivalents are the funny, sad, beautiful, hopeful, hopeless, poetic posts on Missed Connections websites. Every day hundreds of strangers reach out to other strangers on the strength of a glance, a smile or a blue hat. Their messages have the lifespan of a butterfly. I’m trying to pin a few of them down.”

She does a fantastic job at doing just that, pinning a few down.

The Art of Ian Stevenson

Rubbish Drawing - Copyright Ian Stevenson

“Ian Stevenson is an unlikely eco-warrior but the London based artist has created a unique form of recycling. His latest project uses everyday discarded objects such as fridges, skips, and cardboard boxes as the canvases for a series of curious characters. Ian Stevenson’s dark wit and beautifully simplistic drawings have made him one of the most interesting and exciting illustrators working today.” Link
