Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1959, Joseph Seigenthaler currently resides in Chicago, Illinois, where he has exhibited his figurative sculpture for the past 20 years. He is married to the painter Anne Gilbert from Paris, France and they have three beautiful daughters, ages 15, 12, and 9 years old. The artist is represented by Carl Hammer Gallery, Chicago.

Having received the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1981 from the Memphis College of Art’s painting department, he soon began fabricating on a freelance basis life-size, realistic wax figures for various wax museums, primarily in Nashville and Tamworth, Australia. The technical processes gained from this three year period were to become influential on the development of his later explorations with large, over life-sized figures.

The Art of Jacques Resch

November 9th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Painting

Jacques Resch (1945 – ) is a French born artist who lives in Africa. He began painting as a child. At around three or four years of age, his mother entered his drawings in a contest where he won first prize. At seven years old, his mother enrolled him in art courses.

Resch enjoys being spontaneous with his work, because he thinks that errors show the feebleness of human nature. His work is also influenced by technology such as the television and internet which barrages people with images. In contradiction to such modern advances which cause the viewer to become passive, Resch’s work encourages the viewer to become active and to examine for themselves the problems that afflict the work today. The Codex Seraphinianus

Codex Seraphinianus

From Wikipedia: The Codex Seraphinianus is a book written and illustrated by the Italian architect and industrial designer Luigi Serafini during thirty months, from 1976 to 1978. The book is approximately 360 pages long (depending on edition), and appears to be a visual encyclopedia of an unknown world, written in one of its languages, an incomprehensible (at least for us) alphabetic writing.
