How to make your very own Spider Hunting Wasp cake

Spider Hunting Wasp Cake - Copyright Cloth & Fodder

Beth over at Cloth and Fodder has done the impossible. Well, maybe not the impossible but she took on a challenge to make a Spider Hunting Wasp cake. I must add that she has done a fantstic job at this and well, who wouldn’t want one of these things to show off at their next party or groovy beekepers meeting.

Beth says, “Well it is complete. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but as with most things I make, I just started and just rolled with it. I should mention that this is simply a description of how I made the cake, and I’m certainly not saying that it’s the best way or the quickest. I wanted to write down the process so I can learn from my cake making endeavours for the future, and if someone else can gain some inspiration on the way, then all the better. I really have no idea about cake making: I just think of something and try to make it using cake as my medium.” Link

Tulips - Copyright GumArt

It’s been 17 years since I finished my first piece of GumArt, but I can not recall GumArt’s beginning. The “primordial soup” of GumArt exists in my earliest memories. It’s made up of a love for gum, the idea that nothing loved should be thrown away, and, as William Faulkner put it, the desire “…to create out of the materials of the human spirit something which did not exist before”.  Link

Chocolate Birds Nests - Copyright Angry Chicken

I remember making these in kindergarten, and haven’t had them since. Why?? I love them so. It’s just shredded wheat, crushed, with melted milk chocolate chips poured over. They are so stinkin’ good! Little malt ball eggs are added as a garnish. Link
