It’s not that I am against eating good it’s just I don’t include things grown on dead things nor in poo. It’s the texture man, the texture! However, using them in a good sauce or hell just sauteing them with other things really brings out a nice flavor.

Paul Baxendale over at FinderMaker does more than just that with these funny looking fungi. He has found a clever and useful way of making something productive out of them, shelves!

Paul says, “One’s active participation in this tutorial is rather dependent on access to suitable mushroom specimens, and while I regret that I’m unable to offer any specific advice on where to go looking, do just keep a keen eye in the trees (up and down the trunks, specifically) the next time you are out on a ramble through a forested area, and your diligence may well be rewarded.

How to make a homemade Tandoor Oven

Homemade Tandoor Oven - Copyright Instructables.com

Fritz Bogott over at Instructables.com came up with a great way of building a homemade Tandoor oven. Lately I have been researching on how to construct one of my own and while I may not make mine exactly like his, it has inspired a few modifications to my plans. None the less, a great instruction based way of making one fairly cheap.

Over at JonsBushCraft.com I found a great article for those wanting to learn the basics of Basket Weaving. Might have to try this one for myself whenever I have a few hours to kill in between programming. Now off to find some Willow stems!

How To Make Newspaper Seedling Pots

Newspaper Seedling Pots

I tried the drinking glass newspaper pots (too big), the origami newspaper pots (too big and had to think too hard), and the toilet roll paper pots (good but didn’t start collecting soon enough). So, duh, I just made tiny versions of the drinking glass pots with (don’t tell anyone) a little piece of tape per pot. Very easy and I risk insulting everyone’s intelligence here by posting a how-to, but Ivory assured me that I should do it anyway, so here it is:

The Girls Measure Up - Copyright Jackie Price

Members of Quilters of South Carolina have created one-of-a-kind bras for Breast Cancer Awareness. The exhibit consists of forty-nine original works of art which are unique, entertaining, humorous, and beautiful to make the public aware of breast cancer, to memorialize those lost to the disease, and to honor survivors.

This exhibit will tour SC until Oct ’09 at which time individual Artfull Bras will be auctioned and the proceeds donated to the Best Chance Network, a program to provide care and treatment of uninsured women across the state who are diagnosed with breast and ovarian cancer.

The bras come prepared for display on their own hangers and are available for exhibit across the state of South Carolina. The exhibit is available until October of 2009. Link

Thanks Anita!
