After watching the movie, “The Lonely Maiden” I was captivated by a piece of art that was the main feature. It didn’t take long for me to find the artist who created the piece and was absolutely stunned to find out that the painting had been done in the past year by a very talented artist, Jeremy Lipking.

Browsing through his site was an absolute joy as I discovered more great works by him such as “Porcelain”, “Reclining Nude Figure”, and “Danielle”.

I only wish they the prints came in posters as I think I would have to paint the whole house in them.

The India Shop Newspaper Bags

Recycled newspaper bag - Copyright the India Shop

The India Shop, located in England, is a gift shop that specializes in Fairtrade products. One item though that stands out in their vast collection are these newspaper bags that are entirely made from recycled newspapers and Bollywood movie posters!

The India Shop writes, “The organisation was started in 2004 by street children who wanted to give something back in return for the opportunities which had allowed them to escape desperate circumstances. These elder children, now married with children of their own, generate an income by making newspaper bags and jute items. This allows them to take care of thirteen street children that they have saved from the streets surrounding Delhi train station. Support for this wonderful project means that these children can enjoy going to school and playing, rather than pulling rickshaws, shoe polishing, rag picking and worse.

The newspapers are collected by bicycle rickshaw calling at residential homes for any read newspapers. This is why sometimes your bag will have a completed crossword!”

Down south we have a lot of fly’s and I do mean a lot. Most of the art that we see around here are the ones created with fly paper. If you stand back far enough, you can almost see a game of connect the dots.

With that being said, Magnus Muhr of Sweden found a creative way of displaying the dead little critters. Magnus has created a wonderful little gallery of Dead Fly Art where he composes the little nasty things into comedic wonder. Make sure you view his other collecton of fine photography.

Magnus says (translated), “This started several years ago on a warm-up party when I get bored found a dead fly on the balcony on a summer evening o immediately thought “ahaa” if I get a pencil o camera … O on the way it is:) may now orders for these small “paintings” that I sometimes sell.”

Started in 2006 Nick Cross has finally released his much anticipated animation Yellow Cake. The animation is that of the glory days of cartoons. The vivid colors but more importantly the music instead of words gives this animation a wonderful appeal. No words are needed to understand what Nick is trying to tell here.

A truly wonderful animation from a very gifted artist.
